Organizers
The organizing consortium of the conference is the Swedish national research program Friluftsliv i förändring (Outdoor Recreation in Change). This is an interdisciplinary research program for the study of outdoor recreation and nature-based tourism supported by the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency. The program is a network involving about 15 researchers from seven Swedish universities and colleges being the partner universities of the MMV conference;

ChairProfessor Peter Fredman, Mid Sweden University and the European Tourism Research Institute (ETOUR) peter.fredman@miun.se Dr. Peter Fredman is a Professor in nature-based tourism at the European Tourism Research Institute (ETOUR) andMid-SwedenUniversity, Campus Östersund. His main research interest includes outdoor recreation demand, visitor monitoring and planning, economic impacts and nature-based tourism supply. Peter has a M.Sc. in Forestry and PhD in forest economics from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Stockholm. In 2007 he became a Docent in Tourism Studies at Mid-Sweden University. He is currently directing a national Swedish research program on outdoor recreation and nature-based tourism involving 15 researchers at seven universities (www.friluftsforskning.se). Peter has previously worked for the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, the Swedish Mountain Safety Board and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. |

Co-chairProfessor Marie Stenseke, University of Gothenburg marie.stenseke@geography.gu.se Dr. Marie Stenseke is a Professor in Human Geography at the School of Business, Economics and Law, University of Gothenburg. Her research interest focuses on the interface society – nature, and includes landscape management and planning, outdoor recreation and public participation. She has headed a number of research projects on landscape and nature resource management and has an extensive experience of interdisciplinary cooperation. Marie has a BSc in Urban and Regional Planning from Stockholm University and a PhD in Human and Economic Geography from Lund University. In 2003 she became a Docent in Human Geography at University of Gothenburg. Marie is currently associate programme leader of a national Swedish research program on outdoor recreation and nature-based tourism involving 15 researchers at seven universities (www.friluftsforskning.se). She is also Vice President in The Permanent European Conference on the Study of the Rural Landscape (PECSRL). |
